I am a retired Police Major out of the City of Montgomery. I have also been employed as a Shelby Co Deputy, assigned to supervise Courthouse Security. Currently I am a police officer at Samford University. I came here because Samford is a great university and I not only felt I was a good fit due to my training, but was eager to better utilize my 25ys of acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities to help the law enforcement and emergency management team here.
I have also pastored two churches, one full time and one part time since retiring. A heart attack in 2015 sidelined me for almost a year and I had to step down from pastoring, but I am recovered now. Currently I am one of the directors at a volunteer food & clothing ministry (Love In Action), in which we feed over 100 households each month by providing $400+/mo (retail value), of canned goods, dry goods, beverages, meats, breads, vegetables, toiletries, and snacks. I am taking full advantage of the great employee benefit that Samford offers to finish my degree and I hope to see my daughter enroll here after she graduates high school.
Family is very important to me and I try to spend as much time as possible with them and enjoy life. As a law enforcement officer I love to shoot, but seldom do anything in competition. I also collect Case pocket knives.
